Pretoria - Tshwane executive mayor Dr Gwen Ramokgopa has received a Nissan Pathfinder with which to attend to her rural duties.
Nissan South Africa MD, Julio Panama handing over
the Nissan Pathfinder to the executive mayor of the Tshwane Metropole, Gwen Ramakgopa.
The Pathfinder forms part of a vehicle agreement between the city and Nissan SA first instituted in 2004.
The off-roader was handed to the executive mayor to help her fulfill her duties in the rural areas forming part of the City of Tshwane's Metropolitan Municipality.
Several of these areas are being targeted for economic development as part of the CTMM's five-year plan to provide residents with a better quality of life.
The range-topping 4-litre V6 automatic, valued at R437 500, will be available exclusively to the mayor for nine months or until the vehicle has covered 30 000 km. However, insurance cover for the vehicle will be provided by the mayor's office.
The Pathfinder was recently upgraded with revisions to certain interior finishes, and hill descent and ascent control for automatic versions.
The engine line-up, comprising a 4.0 litre V6 petrol and 2.5 litre turbodiesel, remains unchanged.
