Indian industrial giant Tata will start building a vehicle assembly plant in Pretoria's Motortown - Rosslyn - towards the end of July, 2011.
The company's spokesman in Dubai, Debasis Ray, confirmed the investment on Wednesday.
"We're not giving out any details but it's been planned for some time," he told Business Day. More details were to be released later.
"We're very excited that it's come to fruition," Ray added, but would not comment on the size of the investment or products to be assembled.
The Mubai-based company already imports small hatchback but also focuses on rugged trucks and other commercial vehicles throughout Africa.
