McLaren’s MP4-12C. Impeccably built. With two local retail and service outlets, South African customers can expect proficient service too.

South Africa will benefit from two dealerships retailing McLaren’s latest supercar, the MP4-12C.

Initially, local customers were only to be serviced by a single Gauteng dealer when McLaren announced the 35 region global retail matrix for MP4-12C in May.

In an announcement on Thursday, Woking confirmed it has partnered with renowned local supercar retailer the Daytona Group.

According to the agreement, the Daytona Group will host two McLaren Automotive sales and service facilities; one in Johannesburg and another in Cape Town.

Personnel deployed to these two locations will receive ongoing first-hand training from McLaren Automotive experts at the company’s headquarters in Woking, UK.

Ian Gorsuch, McLaren Automotive’s Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific director felt positive concerning the appointment. "I am pleased to announce the partnership between McLaren Automotive and our new representative, Daytona Group, who are among the best in the car retail business in the region."

"South Africa, with its well informed, passionate car enthusiasts, is a key market for us."

Justin Divaris, CEO of Daytona Group, was similarly upbeat following the announcement. "The opportunity to represent McLaren in South Africa is an honour. We aim to serve McLaren Automotive customers in South Africa with passion and professionalism not only during the purchase process."

"We will look after the car and owner afterwards, giving them everything they need for years of happy ownership."

The burden of expectation on Divaris and his McLaren-trained staff will be immense.

McLaren boss Ron Dennis has promised the company’s second supercar offering will provide impeccable driving dynamics and build quality, matched by peerless after sales service. As his erstwhile F1 opponents can confirm, Dennis is not somebody to suffers fools gladly.
