South African new vehicle sales improved by 5181 (11.7%) in November over the same month in 2010 with aggregate domestic sales at 49 499.
The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA said on Friday: "Low interest rates, declining real-terms vehicle prices, a competitive trading environment and new model introductions should support domestic sales over the medium term.
EXPORTS UP - AND DOWN
"Growth is, however, anticipated at a more subdued rate in line with the overall performance of the South African economy.”
Total year-to-date domestic new vehicle sales remained 16% ahead of 2010 and YTD exports were up 17% though November’s exports, at 20 480, were 28% down on the same month in 2010.
November sales of new light commercials, bakkies and minibuses, at 14 125, were up by 1534 over November 2010.
