Jessup ditches new-born Geely

2012-01-20 13:13

JOHN JESSUP: Geely SA John Jessup and the No.2 Chinese auto company in SA are about to part company.

John Jessup is to leave Geely South Africa, where he has been chief executive officer for the past two years, for another job in the motor company.

Which one - should you be interested - we will be told in February.

'REASON TWOFOLD'

"It's time for me to announce that my assignment with Geely SA is now almost at an end," Jessup proclaimed. "”The reason is twofold." Which sounds portentous but in fact he was simply offered another job and is heading off, to do something different.

It's apparently been simmering for six months, discussed with his bosses, and he's "leaving in the best interests of Geely".

Geely now has 50 SA dealers, Jessup says, and sales are "moving towards 200 a month".
