Hyundai i30 scores on sales

The Hyundai i30, the company’s best-selling model in Europe, has reached a triple milestone, achieving sales and production landmarks around the globe. Its name is also on the list of 2013 South African Car of the Year finalists.

More than a half-million units of i30 have been sold in Europe since the first-generation model went on sale in 2007. This success has been the driving force behind the model’s global achievements, which also surpassed a million sales recently.

In the UK, the i30 is also one of the brand’s most popular models having sold just over 59 000 units since 2007.

FLUIDIC SCULPTURE

Allan Rushforth, senior vice-president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, said: "Since its launch in 2007, the i30 has become the centre of gravity for our brand in Europe. It was our first car to be designed and made here, offering customers high quality, low emissions and great value - characteristics now synonymous with the Hyundai brand.”

In addition to being built in Europe, the original and new-generation i30 were designed and developed at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre and feature Hyundai’s Europe-developed design language - fluidic sculpture. The cars' range has expanded recently to include a two-door hatchback which, Hyundai says, "adds sporting flair to the qualities of its hatchback and Tourer siblings".

According to November 2012 sales figures, the i30, along with the current i20 and ix35, are the best-selling models in Europe, accounting for 24% of sales in November 2012 with just over 9000 units sold out of a total of 37 000 units across the region for the month.
