Get Créative for Citroen awards

PARIS, France - Citroën launched its third annual competition to discover inspiring designers from around the world – the 2012 Créative Awards.

It is open to everyone, so South Africans can try their luck in the latest smartphone-related competition.

The theme for 2013 is "connectivity"; entrants must design and develop an innovative smartphone app to make life easier for vehicle drivers.

MAKING LIFE EASIER

With smartphone and digital apps now part of everyday life and cars being increasingly connected through technology, participants are invited to let their imagination run free while answering the question: 'What innovative smartphone app would you create to make driving and everyday motoring life easier?'

Inspiration can come from all sorts of features in a car: speed, fuel consumption and GPS, alongside additional information related to generic motoring needs such as fault diagnosis, maintenance and traffic.

The competition is a great opportunity for emerging talent to have creative designs under the international spotlight.

Citroën’s 2010 Créative Awards finals drew more than 700 entrants from 55 countries; in 2011 there were more than 800 from 87 countries.

CASH PRIZE

Entries will be judged by a panel of top magazine editors, designers and digital and online gurus. The winner will receive a cash prize equivalent of about R111 000. Second will win R22 000 and third about R16 000. The winner of a polled public vote will get the same amount.

Rules and information can be found here. Participants have until February 10 2013 to submit their idea(s) via the website. The awards ceremony will be in Paris in March 2013.
