Ford bows out of SA budget market
Ford SA will soon not have any new passenger vehicles to cater to buyers in the sub-R100 000 market segment, Wheels24 learnt on Friday.
A company spokesman told Wheels24 that the manufacturer is currently running out its supply of the existing Ford Ka.
It will not be replaced once the next-generation model makes its international debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
Enquiring as to whether the current Ford Fiesta will be sold as a more cost-effective model alongside the all-new car when it is launched here in the fourth quarter of this year, Wheels24 was informed that this would be dependent on the duration of the model run-out.
In a market where new vehicle sales continue to take a beating, offering a car beneath the psychological R100 000-mark is key.
