Daimler confirms Chrysler talks

2008-09-26 07:50
Daimler has said it is in discussions with Cerberus Capital Management concerning the sale of its remaining stake in Chrysler LLC.

Daimler still owns 19.9% of the manufacturer following the dissolution of DaimlerChrysler in May 2007.

In a short statement, the German manufacturer said "the business outlook of Chrysler, in which we hold an equity interest, including its ability to successfully implement its restructuring plans" could influence its views on "future events."

When it was formed in 1998, DaimlerChrysler was the biggest industrial merger yet.

It is expected that the manufacturers' existing technology ties will remain unaffected by the latest developments.
