Chrysler: Best month in four years

DETROIT, Michigan - The Chrysler group says its US sales jumped 34% in March 2012 due to strong sales figures that included Fiat.

Other automakers are set to release sales figures later in March.

March proved to be the best month for Chrysler in four years as consumers buy more vehicles due to economic recovery.

JEEP ON THE UP

Sales of the Fiat 500 hit 3712, compared to only 500 in March 2011 when the car first hit the US market. The sub-compact Fiat is growing in popularity as new dealerships open and fuel prices rise.

Sales of Chrysler's 200 and 300 sedans doubled, with recent revamps to both vehicles attracting new buyers.

Jeep sales also rose 36% on the strength of the new Grand Cherokee.
