BMW, the world's largest premium carmaker, has reached a deal with archrival Daimler to pool their purchase of some car parts, BMW development chief Klaus Draeger told a German magazine.
"The use of economies of scale is successively being implemented. We do not need to wait for a model change or official announcements," he said in comments published by auto motor und sport.
Both sides have confirmed they were in talks about boosting their purchasing power for common parts that are not critical to brand image, but neither had said publicly that an agreement had been achieved.
Neither BMW nor Daimler would comment immediately.
