Despite a global financial crisis impacting car manufacturers in particular, in 2008 Audi sold more than one million cars for the first time in its history.
The manufacturer announced in a statement that its sales volume in 2008 had increased by 4.1% over 2007, with sales in December increasing by 17.4% over the same period in 2007.
Audi sold 1 003 400 units in 2008.
“This 13th record year in a row is a success achieved by the entire Audi team," Rupert Stadler, chairman of the Audi board said.
Growth was credited to a robust model range in a year that included the key launches of the new A4 range and the Q5 SUV (which arrives in South Africa shortly).
