Audi Europe has released a cellphone application to augment its printed brochures and price guides.The Audi Vision app will enable potential customers to point a camera-equipped mobile device at its 2013 Audi price and specification guides and trigger additional content such as video, sound, hot spots and images.Once the Audi Vision app has taken a grab from a particular brochure it will no longer require a data connection (although wi-fi is required for streamed video).'GET UNDER THE SKIN'The app is available for iPhone, iPad and Android-based devices and is compatible with all Audi vehicle brochures. Hugh Fletcher, Audi's UK digital manager, said: “Audi Vision is the most innovative digital project we’ve undertaken and applying this technology to our brochures is just the beginning."In coming years we’ll be using the Vision platform across a broad spectrum of marketing channels, augmenting printed matter, digital content and other materials used by our Audi Centres to allow Audi fans to really get under the skin of our cars.”Check out the app on iOS or Android!WHY NOT SA?Seems like a great app but, as Wheels24 found while attempting to download it in South Africa, you'll receive a "Not available for your country" message. Why would this be?Sameerah Bhabha from Audi SA public relations explained: "It (Audi Vision) is an app developed by Audi UK which produces its own brochures and as far as I understand it is not available for the full range of brochures yet. It is currently not planned for South Africa."Seems like a missed opportunity for SA. Let's hope that if there's more demand from local (read: potential Audi customers) the app will become available in SA in the near future. And maybe other automakers can follow suit. C'mon guys, it's the digital age!
