404kW Cayenne arriving in August

accreditation
Porsche is to introduce the latest version of its aesthetically indifferent Cayenne SUV to the local market by August this year, after its European debut.

The performance SUV, dynamically engineered for both high-performance road use and limited off-road application, has seen a boost in power for this year.

According to Porsche they are only pandering to consumer demand. "There is huge demand, especially in the new emerging markets of Eastern Europe and Asia, for exclusive sports-style SUVs with top quality physical handling dynamics."

Twin-turbo V8

Featuring a 4.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 producing 404kW, the Cayenne Turbo S, despite weighing an obese 2355kg, sprint from 0-100km/h in a hot hatch quashing 4.8 seconds.

Power is transferred through the all-wheel system in a 38/62 front-to-ear bias split by means of a six-speed tiptronic gearbox.

Despite the road biased 21-inch mags shod with high-performance 295/35mm rubber, Cayenne retains a low-range transfer case, whilst Porsche Traction Management enables 100 percent of the drive power to be routed to either axle - not a maximum of 50 percent to each in a half split.

Featuring independent suspension all round - double-wishbones up front and multilink at the rear - the fabled body control and handling prowess of the oversized SUV remains.

Optional ceramic composites brakes measuring 410mm at the front and 370mm at the rear, clamped by six- and four-piston callipers respectively, ensures organ squashing deceleration.

Aesthetic excess

Exterior styling cues to differentiate the Turbo S from lesser Cayenne models include ridiculous, 21-inch wheels; performances exhaust system with quad tailpipes, and air intake gills.

An oddly named 'lava gray' metallic hue is also an exclusive option on the Turbo S range.

Interior standard equipment includes front sports seats with a comfort memory package, rear seating with individual seat contours, aluminium door panels showing the name plate together with leather upholstery in two exclusive dual-colour combinations (black / Havana and black / steel gray) plus a leather steering wheel with padded centre.

Touch-screen navigation and optional voice actuation, with full word recognition for navigation system destinations, universal audio interface (with MP3 connection), cell phone link-up via Bluetooth and a TV module for both analogue and digital terrestrial signals are optional.

Offered as standard, the BOSE Surround Sound System with 14 speakers' features is enhanced to 410 Watt output and is now capable of reproducing music from both audio and video DVDs.
