High-speed Q&A: Comedian quizzes Hamilton

LONDON, England - British comedian James Corden teams-up with Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton for a high-speed Q&A session.

In a video posted by Puma on YouTube, Corden attempts to fire questions during a spirited drive with Hamilton behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz SL AMG 63 V8 biturbo at the Rockingham Motor Speedway in England. Questions included "does Hamilton prefer Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel or Ferrari's Fernando Alonso" and whether there's any truth to rumours he wears his race helmet in bed.

Hamilton said: “When it comes to driving I have no fear. This is my comfort zone, this is what I was born to do.”

At one point during the interview, Corden is heard squealing: “Lewis I thought you were going to be amazing at this, but we’re just going over all the corners!”

There is also a more sedate Q&A where Hamilton tackles issues including the unique challenge when your title rival is your team mate - Mercedes' Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton said: “It’s like playing poker – you have cards and the other guy is not supposed to know what you got but Nico (Rosberg) and I can see each others cards so then it’s more difficult to beat each other.”

On his favourite race track, the Macau street circuit, he commented: “I wish I could go back there incognito and race in Formula 3! It’s just really awesome barrier to barrier driving and it never ends.”

What about the state of F1 rules and regulations: “I’m not a huge admirer of the direction everything’s going, in the sense that the cars get slower every year so physically it’s easier for me … I just feel like Formula One is the pinnacle, it should be so draining that when you finish the race you should barely be able to get out of the car.”

On the use of DRS in F1, Hamilton commented: “DRS enables people to get close and overtake which is great, but sometimes DRS is all it takes to overtake at the beginning of the straight and then you’re gone which is not so realistic. It should be harder and more of a challenge.”
