Randburg - CCTV captures the moment an SUV smashes into a vehicle and crashes into a perimeter wall in Randburg.

Arrive Ailve tweeted a video of the crash, via the Suburban Control Centre, that occurred at the corner of Preller Dr and Fairbairn St, Roosevelt Park on Sunday (July 16).

The video shows a sedan attempting to turn at an intersection an instead is hit from behind by an SUV. The collision sends the SUV hurtling towards a property and crashing through a wall.

Arrive Alive's Johan Jonck said: "Sadly, this is something rather common on our roads. The members of the Facebook page are rather accurate with regards to their own self-investigation and comments.

"What usually happens is that the driver at the front does not indicate and the overtaking driver does not consider the dangers when approaching the intersection. It should be illegal to overtake at that spot and the driver at the rear should have considered that the driver ahead might be turning.

"The impact with the wall might also indicate that excessive speed or an unsafe speed in a urban area might be a factor contributing to the devastating crash."
