Cape Town - The Ford Mustang kicked off the new year by resuming its position as the sales leader for sports cars in South Africa.

In January 2018, the American Pony found 56 new owners to put it in good stead for the coming year.
But though the Mustang impressed on the top step, it was Porsche who grabbed the attention by again releasing their sales figures to Naamsa.

911 and 718

Half way through 2017 Porsche refrained from announcing their sales figures, but at the end of the 2018’s first month the German automaker is back with a bang. And rightly so, because the 911 sold a massive 40 units in second place, and the 718 Cayman/Boxster 10 units in fourth.

The Jaguar F-Type, the car which held onto second position since Porsche’s sales departure in 2017, slots into third place with 13 units sold.

The Ferrari 488 GTB managed to sell five new vehicles in fifth place, ahead of the Audi R8 (4 units) in sixth place. The 488 GTB’s namesake, the 488 Spider, found three new owners in seventh place, ahead of another Ferrari, the 812, which only managed one sale.

The Alfa Romeo 4C also managed a solitary sale.
