Cape Town - The City of Cape Town has released information on how to apply for a disabled parking permit.
The City issues temporary and permanent disabled parking permits. Temporary permits are valid for six months, and permanent permits are valid for two years.
Disabled parking disc can be linked to more than one vehicle. Anyone who qualifies can make an application, but the form can only be completed by a medical doctor.
How to apply for a disability disc
Step 1: Download and complete the Disability Disc Application Form from the document downloads section below.
Step 2: Get a medical practitioner to complete the application form. The doctor must have an MBChB, or equivalent, and be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
The doctor is required to confirm that:
The applicant’s mobility is severely impaired by an ongoing physical condition
The applicant’s mobility is temporarily or permanently, and severely, impaired.
Step 3: Take your signed application form with all necessary documents (outlined in the box below) and submit them at any of our driver's licence testing centres.
NB: With your completed application form, please also bring:
Acceptable identification (official ID or driver’s licence)
Application fee (check the tariff sheet below for more information)
