FAST AND FURIOUS WOMEN: Lettie, Mia, Gisele, Elana and Riley are the femme fatales of the Fast and Furious franchise. Images: YouTube
London - The highly-anticipated latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast 8, releases in SA this weekend.
The latest movie features a new bad girl in town; South Africa's Charlize Theron.
Channel24 editor Herman Eloff says: "Charlize Theron enters the Fast & Furious franchise in its 8th instalment and she doesn’t disappoint. Like we saw in the recent Snow White films, the South African born actress is the queen of mean! The Oscar winner brings with her a sophisticated and well-balanced villain that totally steals the show.
"Although she doesn’t get behind the wheel in The Fate of the Furious, the 41-year-old is no stranger to taking on epic driving roles like we saw in The Italian Job and Mad Max: Fury Road. Her portrayal of Cipher delivers one of the toughest baddies the franchise has ever delivered." (Stay tuned for Herman's review of Fast 8 on April 13)

With that said, Lettie (Michelle Rodriguez) has always been the original bad girl, and even her more endearing sister-in-law Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) is quite a machine behind the wheel of any car too. The pair are my favourite female stars in the series. The crew was expanded with the addition of Gisele (Gal Gadot) from Fast 5.
Gisele is a beauty and hardcore in her own right. And damn, can she drive!
There's also the likes of good cop Elsa Pataky (Elena), agent Hobbs (Dwyane Johnson) in Fast 5. She never really drives any fast cars, but her moral integrity and striking good looks makes fans fond of her.

Even Gina Carano who plays agent Riley, and is actually bad guy Shaw's (Luke Evans) girlfriend, packs a mean punch. But we don't like her very much, for obvious reasons.
