Cape Town - From what to do in a crash, to a quick-thinking couple avoiding a hijacking and the Western Cape government's shocking new ad to curb speeding. Here's your daily SA motoring wrap.
An alert and quick-thinking couple prevented themselves from becoming hijack victims over the weekend when three men in a Mercedes-Benz C-Class tried to attack them in front of their home on Sunday (August 13) in Midrand. Thanks to being aware of their surroundings, the couple managed to get away unharmed.
'Travelling more than 5km/h over the speed limit gives you less time to react,' the Western Cape transport department has released another hard-hitting road safety ad about how speeding has a knock-on affect on our loved ones.
Wheels24 reader Mogamat Jamiel Toefy says: "This is an absolutely amazing ad as more often than not we don’t consider the repercussions of a dad, mom, sister or brother (irrespective of the relation to the deceased) dying due to an accident – we send our condolences but the family is only starting to deal with the loss let alone the financial aspect of their lives – the delivery guy in this instance appears to be the sole breadwinner… How does the family cope?"
