Audi SA has added two four-cylinder models (including, for the first time in South Africa, a four-cylinder diesel) to its recently introduced A6 line-up.

The redeveloped 2.0 TDI used in the A6 generates 130kW/380Nm and sends it through a Multitronic transmission to the front wheels. This model has a claimed top speed of 228km/h.

According to Audi, the car is its most fuel-efficient, returning 4.9 litres/100km on the combined cycle and releasing 129g/km of CO2 into the air.

TDI v. TFSI

Next up is the 2.0T FSI with 132kW/320Nm on tap that also uses Audi's Multitronic transmission. It's fuel consumption is listed as 5.4/100 and CO2 emissions at 149g/km.

Standard equipment on the two models includes the latest eight-speed Multitronic transmission, 17"-cast aluminium rims, drive select with efficiency mode, leather seats, MMI plus Audi's music interface, Bluetooth and voice control

Available options for the newcomers include 18 or 19" rims, diode headlights, front and rear cameras, and crash sensors.

The Audi A6 2.0T FSI costs R462 000 and the 2.0TDI, R478 000. Prices include a five-year or 100 000km Freeway full maintenance plan.
