Beating brake-dust build-up

MAKE SUNDAY MORNINGS EASIER: Armor All says its new spray product will make cleaning alloy rims a simple hose-off affair..

Ever since discs replaced drums brake dust has been the bane of every proud owner of alloy wheel rims.

Given that prevention is better than cure care-care products Armor All has launched Shield for Wheels with, it says, the latest polymer technologies that lay a tough, long-lasting barrier against brake dust, road dirt and grime.

Better, it's said to make cleaning easier on Sunday mornings.

WAX ON, WAX OFF

This alloy ally is supposed to be applied to freshly clean rims and left to seal into "a non-stick barrier" that, its maker says, is a "protective coating out-protecting, out-performing and out-shining existing wheel protectors and waxes". We guess you'll have to try it to prove it...

One application is said to last for a month, during which rinsing with a hose should wash away the dust.

Armor All Shield for Wheels is available already in Europe (with a money-back guarantee) so expect it in SA soon. Meanwhile, check out the video info... or, if you've tried the product, tell us about it in the Readers' Comments section below.
