Organisers of the 2011 World Car of the Year contest got together at the Geneva Auto Show to reveal the top three finalists in each of the four categories.
The top three contenders in the overall competition are:
Audi A8
BMW 5 Series
Nissan Leaf
The top three contenders in the World Performance Car category are:
Ferrari 458 Italia
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
Porsche 911 Turbo
The top three contenders in the World Green Car of the year contest are:
BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition
Chevrolet Volt
Nissan Leaf
The top three contenders for the World Car Design category are:
Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Aston Martin Rapide
Ferrari 458 Italia
Vehicles selected are voted for by an international jury panel comprising 66 automotive journalists from 24 countries in the world, including South Africa. To qualify for entry, vehicles must be sold on at least two continents during the period January 1, 2010 to May 30, 2011.
The winners in each category, including the overall 2011 World Car of the Year, will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on April 21, 2011.
