Women's COTY winners out

Winners have been announced in the second annual Women on Wheels Women's Car of the Year Awards.

The seven category winners were announced at a function in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Judges included motoring journalists Charleen Clarke, Helene Griffiths, Fenly Foxen and Peta Lee, while readers were also encouraged to cast their votes. More than 1 000 readers cast their votes in the online poll.

The winners were:
- Best car under R100 000
Daihatsu Charade

- Best car between R100 000 and R200 000
Fiat Bravo

- Best executive model
BMW 1 Series Convertible

- Best mom's taxi
Subaru Forester

- Best SUV/MPV
Nissan Qashqai

- Best 4X4
Land Rover Discovery

A winner was not announced in the Best Value for Money category.

The cars were judged on WOW’s “five S’s”, which mirror the motoring sections in the magazine. They are Savvy (design and accessories), Sale (value for money), Safety (safety and security), Surety (reliability) and Soul (eco-friendliness).
