Voting Booth: Final push for COTY

Gallery - 2012 SA Car of the Year finalists

Late in 2011 we launched a readers' poll to find the public's opinion on which vehicle should be the 2012 South African Car of the Year based on the 10 finalists selected by the SA Guild of Motoring Journalists.

The poll has so far attracted 25 267 votes on those 10 finalists.

HERE'S HOW THEY'VE SCORED...

Unless some eager Ford Focus (6322 votes) fans start voting in earnest, there's little chance that this sedan will catch current readers' favourite the Hyundai Elantra (7020).

Alfa Romeo's Giulietta has doggedly remained third - but way back - with 2877 votes, just ahead of VW's Jetta in fourth with 2760.

Audi's A6 (1822 votes) has so far achieved an even more outside fifth followed by the Mercedes-Benz SLK (1309 ) and Suzuki Kizashi (1070) in sixth and seventh respectively.

At the tail of our COTY traffic jam are Kia's budget Picanto (1082 votes) in eighth place, Citroen's DS4 (775) and Peugeot's 5008 (230) ninth and 10th.

A bunch of journo judges have already decided the 2012 Coty winner (unless it is a tie again, as in 2011) and it (they) will be announced on March 14, 2012, but Wheels24 readers are seemingly torn between the Ford and the Hyundai.

There's still time (but not a lot) to vote for your Car of the Year by clicking on our home page voting booth.
