Video: Pedal-powered Ferrari?

2012-05-09 14:04

An Austrian artist has created a pedal-powered version of a Ferrari supercar. Hannes Langeder, famous for his 2010 lightweight Porsche driven by Top Gear's Richard Hammond, has created a sleek Ferrari-esque bicycle.

With its sleek design and red paintjob, the Fahrradi Farfall FFX looks the part though it is essentially a quad bicycle surrounded by a lightweight frame.

Made from plastic and light-weight steel, the model weighs 100kg and sports a 11-speed transmission.

Langeder's creation is based on a Ferrari FXX and took a year to create. The Fahrradi Farfall derives its name from an Italian butterfly after the vehicle was described by an onlooker as "moving silently and with the weightless elegance of a butterfly".

The eco-friendly ride is on display at an automotive exhibition in Austria.
