Video: Die-hard cop rams plane

2011-11-03 11:23

YIPPEE KI-YAY: Like something out of an action movie, a Brazilian cop shows the correct way to chase down a smuggler's plane.

Brazil - You've seen this countless times in action flicks: good-guy cop (usually brought back from retirement) takes on smugglers hoping to get away with their loot in a plane/boat/car. Usually this results in crazy stunts as the hero inevitably stops the crooks from getting away.

In Brazil, however, you don't have to go to the movies - you could have seen this die-hard cop triumph over smugglers and their plane.

In a video posted on YouTube, a Brazilian police officer chased down a plane after a tip-off told authorities in Ribeiráo Preto that criminals would be flying off with stolen goods.

Smugglers are infamous in Paraguay and have been known to fly in, snap up electronic devices and fly back using the runway seen in the clip.

In the video you can see a cop car tailing a plane before ramming into the side of the aircraft causing it to spin into the ground. According to Jalopnik.com, authorities were able to seize the stolen goods (the equivalent of R1.2-million) and arrest five individuals.

A hat-tip to you Señor John McClane (should that be Jose?) and your awesome, albeit incredibly risky, crime-busting technique. Movie deals will probably be heading your way.
