Veyron makes a splash... in lake

2009-11-17 14:03

If you have ever felt bad watching a storm mess up a fresh wax job, or been riled up thinking about rain spots on your clean bonnet, you should probably start reaching for your Kleenex...

This well soaked Bugatti Veyron belongs to US millionaire Andy House, who had just taken delivery of the supercar when he skidded off the road and plunged into a lagoon.

Our collective heart sunk the minute we heard the words 'Veyron' and 'write-off' in the same sentence.

House blamed a low-flying pelican for crashing his million-dollar supercar into the lagoon.

We’re pretty sure House is doing a little more than kicking himself now.

He told authorities that he had dropped his mobile phone and, while bending to pick it up, was startled by a low-flying pelican sending him careering into the water. Talking on your mobile while driving a car that can reach speeds of 400km/h?

Perhaps the pelican was simply jealous of the car or maybe it was a really important phone call? Perhaps the bird made the phone call. Your guess is as good as ours.

Whatever the reason, House has to relive his crash on a daily basis courtesy of several Youtube clips.
