PROSPECTON, Durban - Toyota has added "wear and tear" cover to some parts on its products as part of its extended warranty programme without increasing the warranty's cost.
The new benefits only apply to 'Toyota Genuine Extended Warranty' deals sold from July 1 2014 for Toyota vehicles still under the standard manufacturer's warranty and that have a full service history with a Toyota dealer.
It is not available for the Quantum Ses'fikile taxi.
THREE OPTIONS
So, from July 1 2014, all new 'Genuine Extended Warranty' customers will have cover for the replacement of one set of shock-absorbers, one clutch kit (clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing) and one skim of a pair of disc brakes if failure occurs during normal wear and tear.
There are three time/distance options: four years or 150 000km, five years or 180 000km and six years or 220 000km. A quote for you vehicle can be obtained from the Toyota website.
The failure of major components (engine, drivetrain, differentials) resulting from wear and tear will also be covered subject to limits determined by the vehicle's kilometres travelled. The limit for an engine is R30 000, drive train R20 000 and differential R20 000.
The benefit levels are, respectively, 100% (up to 120 000km), 75% (up to 150 000km), 50% (up to 180 000km) and 25% (up to 220 000km).
CALCULATORS AVAILABLE
Toyota SA's Calvyn Hamman told Wheels24: "The 'Genuine Extended Warranty' always offered superior cover at an affordable premium. The inclusion of the 'wear and tear' benefit means no other extended warranty product can match the cover at the price."
Price calculators are also available at the Toyota website.
Hamman added: "We endeavour to assist our customers to 'Keep their Toyota Genuine' to maintain quality, durability and reliability. This warranty allows us to make this possible."
