Top exotics in charity Cannonball

Fifty supercars (and super cars) are being readied to tackle the 3220km inaugural Cannonball 2000 that will take celebrities and car owners alike from London to Paris along "the scenic route”.

The 2000-mile (or 3218km) Cannonball 2000 will take participants from London to Paris via Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Milan, starting on September 5 2012.

The road trip is being run to raise money for UK charity Dreams Come True though spectators and participants may be equally keen to have a go in some of the vehicles confirmed for the event.

GOOD FUN FOR CHARITY

Exotic entries include a DeLorean DMC-12 (made famous in 'Back to the Future' films) but while more-traditional entries have also been received.

Also signed up for the five-day trip are a Lamborghini Gallardo LP570 Performante, a number of Bentleys and Aston Martins alongside Range Rovers, Jaguars, Porsches, Ferraris and Nissans.

The Cannonball 2000’s official formation grid will line up outside the London Hilton Park Lane Hotel on September 5 before taking in some of the top sites, including Monaco’s famous Casino, en route to the Paris finish.

Celebrities signed up and confirmed include World champion boxer Ricky Hatton who will be driving his Bentley GT Speed.

Hatton said: “This is the first ever time I have taken part in anything like this and I can’t wait. I am taking my luxurious Bentley as I felt my three-wheeler Robin Reliant would look very much out place.”
