Top Parrot lands in SA

Parrot's latest product offering is said to offer the “perfect solution to multimedia connectivity and hands-free Bluetooth, and it’s now available in South Africa.

The Parrot Asteroid is a car receiver that embeds an android operating system and, thanks to its 3G and GPS connectors, internet applications such as internet radio, music streaming radio and navigation services are also available.

It has a detachable faceplate with backlit buttons and a discreet jog wheel for easy browsing through menus. An 8cm high-definition colour screen displays all information, phonebooks, menus, music, playlists, album covers and internet applications in an instant.

STATE OF THE ART

This head unit also offers Bluetooth hands-free telephony features that will, from the first connection, automatically synchronise the phonebook of the cellphone and directly associate a user independent voice recognition tag allowing calls to be launched by voice or by browsing the phonebook. It also has a voice-activated music search for easy access to music stored in the music library.

The Asteroid plays music from a number of sources such as iPod and iPhone, USB and SD card. It is equipped with a 4x55W built-in MOSFET amplifier, a sub-woofer output and 6xRCA preamp-output.

Smart Automotive Components, or SMAC, holds the exclusive distribution rights for the Parrot range of products in southern Africa and the Parrot Asteroid is available from certain installation centres nationwide or online from R3899 (excluding installation).
