Most drivers know the dangers of exceeding your vehicle's tow rating.
If you've bitten off more than you can chew in terms of towing then you're probably going to destroy your vehicle's transmission, tyres and rear axle simultaneously.
The Top Gear Australia team took on a monstrous towing challenge to illustrate the dangers of (far) exceeding a bakkie's tow rating: they tried to tow a 600t mining truck hitched to a standard GM bakkie.
Or at least they tried..
In the video clip we can see the challenge didn't exactly go as planned. The mining truck stayed put and all the driver of the bakkie managed to achieve was vulcanising the rear tyes.
