Top Gear goes 3D for August

Top Gear Magazine South Africa has taken motoring into the third dimension!

The motor mag believes it's the first motoring magazine in the country to publish images in 3D.

Each copy of the August issue, which went on sale nationwide on July 23, is bagged with special 3D glasses so readers can enjoy the individually created 3D features in the magazine. Each image required a days’ backroom work to deconstruct and recreate in 3D. The results, the magazine says, were well worth the effort.

'COOL TO DO'

This special 3D issue follows the hugely successful Top Gear Festival in Durban and the magazine itself being voted "coolest male magazine in South Africa" by a Sunday newspaper.

"We thought a 3D issue would be a really cool thing to do," said editor Pierre Steyn. "Fans who couldn’t travel to the show in Durban can get a taste of the real thing by putting on their 3D specs to see what Jeremy Clarkson and the boys got up to."

Or, of course, watching the video on Wheels24 (see below).

"It’s a bit of fun and definitely something different, which is what we’re all about here at Top Gear."
