The Top Gear Festival returns to SA with Jeremy Clarkson and co-hosts planning their biggest live event yet in Durban.
The festival will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park and even host street circuit stages with a sports-themed twist.
CAR CURLING?
At the 2012 event, Top Gear presenters will be conducting a variety of stunts including chariot racing, albeit with loads more power and in a crazy setting.
The popular Scottish winter sport of curling will be recreated in Durban, though instead of giant logs the team will be using vehicles instead.
There will also be displays by the Top Gear Stunt Driving team while, out on the track, Top Gear’s first-ever street circuit plays host a 90-minute track show hosted by former British racing driver Tiff Needell and local Formula 1 presenter Sasha Martinengo.
There will be supercar grudge matches, presenter races and a two-wheel world record attempt in a minibus taxi.
On display will be an F1 showcase and visitors can also enjoy South African celebrities duelling in drag races and demonstrations by participants in the WesBank racing series, too.
The Top Gear Festival will take place in Durban on June 16 and 17, 2012.
Tickets are on sale and range from R250 for a bronze ticket to R995 for a platinum ticket. For more information, click here!
