Wits geology student Sibusiso Radebe is in high spirits as he prepares to occupy his new university accommodation – a Nissan NP200.
In an attempt to establish an unofficial World Record, Radebe will live in Nissan’s compact bakkie for eight days as part of a corporate marketing campaign called The Resident.
Radebe’s campus popularity saw him capture 1500 votes in a preliminary selection process in which students were lobbied to choose their candidate for residence in the NP200.
PARTY PLAN
Although the prospect of spending eight days/20 hours living in a compact bakkie would appear masochistic to most, Radebe’s NP200 will be joined by a support vehicle of sorts – a second NP200 featuring a loadbox with a spa bath and high-end sound installation.
The idea of Radebe’s support NP200 is to facilitate a typical student level of partying surrounding his new university accommodation. To this end Radebe will be hosting a boerewors braai on March 28 and a musical chairs event two days later.
Fittingly, Radebe will be released from his NP200 on April 1. The reward for his antics? A new laptop and R10 000 cash.
Wheels24 will keep you up to date, daily, with Radebe's "ordeal".
