Teen driver kills schoolboy, flees

2010-09-15 09:19

A teenaged driver fled after knocking down a six-year-old schoolboy in Imbali on Tuesday afternoon, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said the fleeing youth was seen wearing schoolclothes. He had been driving a bakkie loaded with schoolchildren.

It was not clear how he hit the schoolboy in the road, but the boy died soon afterwards of spinal injuries.

The owner of the bakkie arrived at scene before the police and drove off in the vehicle with the schoolchildren, Banks said.
