Speeding fine insurance

Cape Town - So you're speeding round the bends, picturing yourself as the next Michael Schummacher, when all of a sudden your dream of being an F1 driver is cut short by a blinding flash.

Then it dawns on you - you just got busted by a speed camera.

You brake instinctively, but it's already too late. The image of you "saying cheese" is already on its way to being processed in order to reward your photogenic moment with a hefty speeding ticket.

According to Ananova.com, the Danish automobile association has come up with a way to overcome this inconvenience traffic authorities have set up (and rightly so) with a bizarre concept – insurance for speeding fines.

Through this initiative motorists can take out various forms of insurance cover, ranging from insurance against speeding tickets to parking fines.

The speeding ticket insurance covers drivers for either four speeding tickets or a total of £900 in speeding fines while the insurance against parking fines will cost £36 or a maximum of £182 in fines.

While the extra coverage does take the weight off many motorists having to pay fines, it may just serve as an incentive to drivers to become more brazen and break traffic regulations.

The Danish Council for Traffic Security has already hit out at the scheme saying that it will make people less afraid of collecting fines and encourage them to risk an offence.
