A King William's Town reverend's bible led him back to his stolen car - or maybe it was the other way around.
Methodist minister Fungile Buti's Mazda 323 was stolen while he was at a church meeting last week. He told he Daily Sun:
"One of the church members passing in a taxi called my cellphone to ask me why I was driving so fast," he explained. "I told him it wasn't me. It was the thieves driving my car.
"I knew my car could go fast because I'd just taken it in for a full service."
SPAZA ROBBED
The car was used to rob a spaza shop in Ngqamakhwe, about 180km from King William's Town, the 59-year-old minister's home town in the Eastern Cape.
Police recovered the car after the spaza shop robbery and found the reverend's bible, with his name inside, on the back seat.
"The presence of my bible helped me get my car back. It's the word of God," Buti proclaimed. Here endeth the lesson...
