As part of his prize package, the winner of Idols season six, Elvis Blue, has taken delivery of a shiny new Colorado Red Ford Figo.
Blue gets to use the 1.4 Trend for a year with insurance, a maintenance plan, navigation system and an iPod.
Said Dean Stoneley, Ford’s vice president of marketing, sales and service: “Our involvement with Idols has been a fantastic opportunity for us to share our newest car, the Figo, with South Africans across the country and we were very excited to see Elvis driving off in one.”
Stoneley’s enthusiasm is touching, even though Blue was apparently less than keen to accept the keys to his prize. He is rumoured to have said earlier in the competition that he would gladly hand over the keys to a charity because he “has a better car at home”.
One person who was very happy to receive a set of car keys on the night was lucky Idols fan Jacqueline van der Walt, who won the viewers competition and drove off in her own Figo 1.4 Trend.
