ROADLINK PAYS OUT: Roadlink has been ordered to pay out R200000 to Noksigabo Shezi.

Pietermariitzburg - A man seriously injured in a 2006 Roadlink bus crash in kwaZulu-Natal has won compensation through the High Court in Pietermaritzburg.

Judge Achmat Jappie ordered Roadlink to pay Noksigabo Shezi R100 000 before July 7 and R100 000 in August.

Shezi had claimed more than R2-million for medical expenses, loss of earnings, future loss of earnings and other expenses.

12 KILLED

Shezi suffered broken limbs, a dislocated spine and brain trauma in the crash and said he could no longer assist his mother, a herbalist in Johannesburg.

Counsel for Shezi said the accident was caused by driver fatigue but Roadlink claimed the crash was caused by a tyre blowout.

Twelve people were killed in the crash and 30 sustained serious injuries.

The bus was travelling to Durban from Johannesburg.
