Yvonne, the cow which escaped from a farm in May, 2011, and went walkabout on the byways and autobahns of Bavaria with a hefty bounty on her horns, has been caught.
The Bild daily reported on its website that Yvonne was found in Eigelsberg in the Bavarian Alps about six kilometres from her home farm.
The Gut Aiderbichl animal sanctuary, which now owns the peripatetic bovine, said a farmer called to say wandering Yvonne was in his pasture.
FOREST FROLIC
Bild offered a R100 000 reward for Yvonne when local authorities told hunters they could shoot her on sight because she was a threat to traffic.
She had, ater all, trotted across a forest road in front of a police car.
When news of the reward was splashed on Bild's front page, hunters and locals went out in numbers to beat the woods but an Austrian animal sanctuary offered to buy the cow if it was taken alive.
Locals even brought in Yvonne's sister, Waltraut, and an alluring bull called Ernst to try to tempt her to return home.
