Report cracks car-crash sex code

A research report from the UK’s Institiute of Advanced Motorists claims to contain the reasons for why men are more likely to be involved in road crashes than women.

Titled 'Licensed to Skill: Contributory Factors in Road Accidents', the report indicates that, when comparing the sexes, men are nearly twice as likely to be involved in a collision and the reason is their bad driving habits.

According to the report, careless and reckless driving, or driving in a hurry, was recorded more frequently for men, at 10 percent, versus women at six.

LESS EXPERIENCE

Also, seven percent of men were recorded at travelling too fast for the conditions, compared to four percent of women.

Furthermore, inexperience was recorded for 14 percent of men, but only 10 percent of women.

However, the report indicates that men and women share several common traits when it comes to their driving, with both, on average, claiming to enjoy driving and rating themselves as confident, considerate and safe drivers.

But almost twice as many men as women claim to be “very confident” drivers.

Any surprises there?
