General Motors South African is to launch its most important product of the year in September, with the introduction of the Chevrolet Cruze.
The Cruze is a key new model range for GMSA, as it signifies a new direction for the revitalised carmaker. More importantly the company hopes it is to become a volume seller while being aimed at the popular Toyota Corolla.
According to GM the new Cruze sets new standards in terms of build quality and fit and finish for the Chevrolet brand. With bold styling the Cruze certainly stands out in its competitive segment too.
Entry-level models will be powered by an 83-kW 1.6-litre unit, while the range-toppers get a 104-kwe 1.8-litre engine. A diesel derivative will join the local line-up in 2010.
GM is confident that the new Cruze offers an unbeatable value package and the range will be priced on an average of 10% lower than its nearest competitors.
