Porsche AG is recalling 887 of its sports cars - some of them in South Africa - for seat belt flaws, including several 911 models, the Boxster and Cayman.
Defective seat belt anchor plates did not rotate as intended, Porsche said, resulting in seat belts that may be too loose.
A Porsche spokesman told Bloomberg the defect is “due to a supplier’s short-term manufacturing problem” and said no accidents or injuries had yet been reported.

As part of the recall, seat-belt mountings would be examined and the seat belts replaced, if necessary.
Porsche SA said: "The repair is minor and takes about 10 minutes to complete."
Porsche’s 911 Carrera, Turbo, GT3, Speedster and Targa, and Boxster and Cayman models manufactured between May 31 and June 10, 2011, are affected.
"In South Africa, only six cars are affected of which five have not yet been delivered to customers and will thus be thoroughly checked prior to a hand-over," Porsche SA assured.
