One-off Rolls built for picnics?

Would a bespoke Rolls-Royce feature on your list of goodies for the perfect weekend getaway? Well, the luxury carmaker certainly thinks so, and has hammered out a hand-built and very special Phantom Drophead Coupe to show it.

The car, with matching bespoke luggage, forms part of the Masterpiece London 2011 exhibit. Additional bespoke details include teak decking, engraved tread plates and a Spirit of Ecstasy with inscriptions marking the bonnet icon’s centenary.

The Masterpiece 2011 Drophead coupe is the first Rolls-Royce to be presented in Mazarine Blue, a bespoke finish that joins the already 44 000-strong colour palette.

The natural grain leather interior in Seashell has a Navy Blue contrast for the floor and door panels. White instrument dials and a clock finished in mother-of-pearl complete the look.

BESPOKE BLUE: The new Mazarine Blue hue is one of more than 44 000 colours that you can specify for your next Rolls-Royce.

The leather luggage set finished in Navy Blue consists of four cases made from hides carefully selected for the firmness and grain structure. The hides were then tanned in pits, a slow artisanal way of producing hard-wearing yet supple leather – and a process that takes four months.

The luggage also features a one-off Asprey jewellery box housed in the glovebox, which is designed for rings, cufflinks and earrings.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: “We are delighted to present this outstanding Rolls-Royce at Masterpiece London 2011. It’s a model that demonstrates the breadth of our bespoke offering, where the only limit to what we can deliver is a client’s imagination.”

The Rolls-Royce will displayed at the Masterpiece London 2011 in Chelsea from June 29 to July 5, 2011.
