Kia has unveiled its second-generation Picanto, and yes, it would appear to be another design trump from the South Korean auto giant.
An all-new car instead of an evolution of the original Picanto, Kia’s new city car contender has grown in both length and wheelbase (yielding a more spacious cabin environment), yet the exact specifications will only become official at the Geneva auto show in March.
Overall, Kia’s mercurial head of design Peter Schreyer has done a great job with the Picanto.
It features the signature Schreyer contoured grille (with its characteristic floating KIA badge) and gauged in its totality the new Picanto’s styling is tidy and contemporary. The new car will be produced in three- and five-door configuration.
Powering Picanto will be a range of 1- and 1.2-litre petrol engines, featuring bi-, flex- and LPG-gas fuel convergence – something sure to appeal to emerging market buyers able to access a medley of fuel sources.
