New McLaren sports car in 2011

2009-04-17 08:51

The iconic McLaren F1

Ron Dennis has provided more details about the upcoming McLaren sports car.

In announcing his departure from McLaren Racing, McLaren chairman Dennis said the new range of cars will build on the reputation of the McLaren F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Production of the SLR will cease at the end of 2009.

The new range of McLaren sports cars have been in development for more than two years. The first model in the range will be launched in 2011.

As part of this plan, McLaren Automotive, currently one of the companies within the McLaren Group, will become an independent company later in 2009.

Yes it's could possibly be faster than the the Veyron with less effort but remember the when driving a veyron you feel like your driving a high-end luxury saloon where as in a maclaren or any other hyper car you feeling like you driving a hyper car. In short it depends on what is the driving experience you want to achieve.

Let's be honnest. It won't get close to the original. I mean it had a BMW engine, normally aspirated, and it took 13 years for the others to catch up. The Veyron has 4 turbos, unfair. Remove the turbo's and it won't get close to the Mclaren.

To OOOO I read an interview with Gordon Murray last year in which he commented that the F1 would only need mild turbo charging (remember it's normally asperated) to beat the Veyron. To me the Veyron is butt ugly while after all these years the F1 is still awesome.

looks like Mclaren have been stealing far too many ferrari designs, not just in F1

I don't think they will produce anything like the original again. For that they would have to beat the Veyron - nearly impossible. But if they leave out the luxuries like leather, airbags etc, they would beat the Veyron. But then anyone can build a racecar. The sectret is to put all of those thing INSIDE the car and still make it as fast.
