Is the sixth generation VW Jetta set to carry over most of its powertrain technology from the current car, or will it gain 2.5l five-cylinder power for the US market bias?
Images of the new VW Jetta leaked on Monday, revealing a car which is bigger yet still wholesomely conservative in terms of design.

The new car is 90mm more substantial bumper-to-bumper at 4.64m, which VW claims yields best-in-class legroom for the sixth generation Jetta. To aid aerodynamics VW’s shaved 7.62mm off the roofline.

Styling sees the new car infused with some Audi A4-like lines, whilst around the rear it gains similarly oversized Touaregesque light clusters as seen on the Golf6.

Powertrain options are expected to migrate from the current offering, with 2l displacement TSI and TDI four-cylinder engines paired with six-speed DSG transmissions. It’s unclear what the exact spread of engine will be for sixth-generation Jetta specification sheet.

The new Jetta’s full suite of specifications (and international marketing releases for each global region) should be detailed by next week Tuesday, when VW’s promised to make a full disclosure concerning the new car.
