TAXI OF TOMORROW: Nissan NV200 Taxi was selected as New York’s official mode of public transportation beginning in 2013.

New Yorkers will get their first peek inside the Nissan NV200 'yellow cab' at a 'Taxi of Tomorrow' design expo in November, 2011.

The exhibit, featuring an interactive display showcasing the vehicle’s planned interior, will be hosted on a pedestrian plaza across from the landmark Flatiron building at the junction of Broadway and Fifth Avenue in central New York.

NEW AMENITIES

Joe Castelli, vice-president of Nissan fleet and commercial vehicles, said:  “Nissan’s NV200 Taxi will be the first taxi to have features developed for, and with, New Yorkers.

“The Taxi of Tomorrow expo will give a first look at these one-of-a kind amenities, which include greater legroom, plenty of interior lighting and materials that reduce odours and germs while supporting sustainability.”

The Taxi of Tomorrow project began in 2007 as an initiative to establish the vision for a next-generation New York City taxi. After a rigorous evaluation process, Nissan’s NV200 Taxi was selected in May 2011 as New York City’s exclusive Taxi of Tomorrow beginning in late 2013.

SPACE MACHINE More legroom and special new amenities are in the future for New York's millions of taxi-cab users.
