More pain for motorists

Johannesburg - The retail price of all grades of petrol will increase by 45c a litre on Wednesday March 4, the department of minerals and energy announced on Friday.
This follows an increase of 61c a litre last month, after decreases of 134c and 161c in the prior two months.
Diesel prices will however decrease, with both 0.05% and 0.005% sulphur falling by 38c per litre.
Wholesale paraffin also decreases by 26c and illuminating paraffin by 34c per litre.
Petrol in Gauteng now costs 707c a litre from 662c before, and it is now 683c at the coast from 638c before.
During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol increased while diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased.
The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period. The average rand/dollar exchange rate for the period 30 January 2009 to 26 February 2009 was R10.0602 compared to R9.9332 during the previous period.
